Did you know waterlilies actually symbolize the story of Christ’s resurrection?
Here are the fascinating facts I learned about this unique flower.
A water lily’s roots go down as deep as 6 feet under the water, which is the average depth of a grave. Its seeds can be resurrected after laying dormant for over 1000 years. It takes three days for the blossom to rise from the murky waters into full bloom. The flower, and its lily pad are covered with a waxy substance which repels dirt and water maintaining its pure beauty. Some lilies have heart shaped leaves, others a notch, like an open hand. The big leaves provide a safe place for fish and other creatures to hide below the water's surface. The lily pads also give frogs a place to sit protected from predators under water.
The waterlily is a symbol of beauty, grace, purity and serenity.
Here is the analogy:
Jesus died on the cross taking on the sins of the world, but He was resurrected from the grave on the third day, He rose up from the mire of our sin and conquered death.
"God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." 1 Corinthians 5:21 NIV
His heart was so big, He laid down His pure and spotless life for us. He is extending His hand to everyone who will believe, and He gives life to those who trust in Him as their Savior.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 ESV
He protects and shelters us.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you— the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm— He will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Psalm 121
The water lily is a beautiful part of God’s creation and a perfect symbol of Christ's love and beauty!
